There’s no feeling like hooking a fish on a fly you tied yourself.
If you've experienced it, you know the sensation leads to a lifelong obsession.
If you haven’t, we're excited to help you get started! Fair warning: once you catch your first fish on your own fly, you’ll be hooked like the rest of us, constantly dreaming of your next fly design, your next fish, your next adventure.
The idea that started it all.
This obsession inspired lifelong fly fishing and fly tying fanatic Martin Bawden to hang up his suit and tie and start Flymen Fishing Company in 2008. Martin had a vision to bring the previously mysterious world of fly tying to the masses: simplified fly tying materials designed to combine ease of tying with top-notch performance on the water.
The Next Generation philosophy.
Fly fishing is constantly evolving, and we’re proud to be a part of it by producing innovative freshwater and saltwater fly fishing products.
Martin Bawden, CEO
Martin is the founder of Flymen Fishing Company and the head product designer. He established the company in Brevard, North Carolina for easy access to some of the best freshwater and saltwater fisheries in the United States. When not on the water “field testing,” he can be found tying at various fly fishing events. Articles on his innovative fly tying products and fly patterns have appeared in various fly fishing publications.
Mike Smith, Product and Brand Development Specialist
Mike is a fly designer and lead smallmouth guru at Flymen Fishing Company as well as the owner and operator of New River Fly Fishing. He's written five fly fishing books, known as the Angler’s Guide Series. His signature flies include the Skull Daddy Crayfish, Foxy Shrimp, Forage Fly, Saltwater Forage Fly, River Creature, Salt Creature, and Egg Sucking Flash Minnow. Keep an eye out for more innovative fly patterns to come!
Caleb Welborn, Marketing Manager
Caleb mostly points a camera at anything fishy and drinks coffee. When not fly fishing, he enjoys mountain biking and writing silly songs.
